An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated clinically experience pharmacist to lead and further develop the well-established 7-day pharmacy service at the front door
We are looking for an experienced pharmacist with extensive clinical pharmacy knowledge, to come and deliver best practice and patient centered care .
You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of pharmaceutical care from the Emergency department to the acute medical units or medical wards, to facilitate smooth and rapid admissions and discharges.
The successful candidate will join a supportive, friendly and integrated pharmacy team. You will receive support and mentoring to help you develop your clinical, leadership and managerial skills.
For candidates who don`t match the essential criteria but are keen to specialise in Emergency medicine, we can support you with a 7-8a progression post. A personalised and structured development plan with set criteria over time period will be created to ensure you are supported with key skills and knowledge before moving into the specialist role. You will be supported by a team of experienced pharmacist who will support you on your pathway of becoming Advance Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job
On a daily basis, you will form part of a small team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians providing a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the acute and emergency floor. This includes support and advice on the post take ward round, medicines reconciliation, co-ordination of discharges, Nurses and Doctors education and training and supervising the rotational pharmacists working within acute medicine.
The pharmacy role is well established and supported by the clinicians and nurses alike. The post holder will contribute to the Emergency department MDT and have additional responsibilities of inputting into clinical guidelines, presenting at clinical governance, service evaluation, multi-professional education and training and other strategic projects as required.
There are numerous opportunities for quality improvement, audit and research.
The post holder will have commitment of working shift patterns, as part of the extended hour service on the acute medical unit. This also includes being part of the on-call service as well as contributing to a comprehensive clinical pharmacy by working 1 in 6 weekends with flexible day off during the week in return.

Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical council
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Accredited independent prescriber
- Postgraduate diploma in General Practice Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
- Willing and Eligible to complete independent prescribing
- Accreditation of Practice/educational supervisor training programme or equivalent
- Formal teaching /training on providing feedback

- Significant hospital clinical pharmacy experience including relevant experience in medical admission/emergency care
- Extensive experience of successfully supervising and contributing to the training of trainee pharmacists, pharmacists and pharmacy technical staff
- Experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care
- Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills. To ensure adherence to drug treatment protocol/policies
- Experience of managing staff , performing appraisal and giving feedback
