Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Haematology Service at Medway Maritime Hospital is seeking a Clinical Training Fellow (CTF) and ST3 level or above. The successful candidate will work alongside the Trust’s substantive Consultant Haematologists who deliver a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient haematology service to the Medway Towns (Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham) and Swale.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

MB ChB or acceptable equivalent
Registered with the GMC
Evidence of previous training in haematology
Possession of MRCP or equivalent
Posession of part 1 or full FRCPath in Haemtology or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

At least four years post registration experience in medical specialities
Previous experience of clinical haematology
Previous experience of laboratory haematology
Experience of teaching doctors-in training and undergraduates
Experience of clinical audit

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
