Part-time position available
We are currently looking for an Infant Feeding practitioner to work for the Public Health Nursing service under the direction of the Health Visitor to:
· Actively promote breastfeeding in the Borough of Greenwich
· Offer one to one and group Infant Feeding support in the Borough of Greenwich
· Support the PHCN service to deliver services to UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards
· Assist in meeting the physical, psychological and social needs of parents/carers/families through Infant Feeding support
· Deliver antenatal education, targeting hard to reach areas
· Work within the Family Hubs programme and with local partners
· Upskill current workforce in the role of Infant Feeding

Essential criteria
- Effective and competent IT skills, including Microsoft office
- Competent in mobile working, including use of tablet, laptop, smartphone, etc

- Previous use of EMIS
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within NHS or similar environment
- Experience of supporting pregnant and breastfeeding service users e.g. facilitating Infant Feeding Groups and/or supporting parents/ carers/ families on a 1:1 basis
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within Health Visiting
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable understanding of infant feeding practice and best practice standards (UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative) and their practical application
- Sound understanding of scope of practice and escalation/referral
- Working knowledge of risk management
- Understanding of Health & Safety issues in a work environment
- Good presentation skills, with the ability to present effectively to diverse groups/individuals with tact and sensitivity
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent level of education and experience
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- UNICEF Breastfeeding course
- IBCLC qualification in breastfeeding support from a recognised National Awarding body e.g. Breastfeeding Network supporter, NCT Counsellor, Breastfeeding Peer Supporter, Breastfeeding Counsellor
- Lactation Consultant course
