The department is a friendly and supportive environment that provides its staff the opportunity to succeed in their goals; we are committed to supporting CPD and encourage role development. Our departments are busy diagnostic hubs delivering high quality imaging for an acute Trust.

A post has become available based in the CT unit at our community diagnostic centre in Maidstone, with an expected start date of January 2025.  The CDC provides an outpatient service seven days a week, without the requirement for night or on-call duties. The role comes with rotation opportunities across both our acute trust departments.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a caring, dynamic, motivated radiographer who will suggest and encourage ideas, to join our team. If you have a commitment to outstanding care, quality and have an interest in developing your leadership skills then our senior team could be for you.

You will be a radiographer with preferably a minimum of 18 months post qualification, the majority of which will be experience in UK healthcare. Previous specialist imaging experience would be an advantage, but not essential. If you are an overseas Radiographer who doesn’t have the UK healthcare experience please ring or email to discuss the post.

You will be required to deputise for the Superintendent Radiographer.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
  • CPD evidence
  • Attendance at relevant study days/short courses
Desirable criteria
  • IV cannulation
  • Relevant special/clinical interest group membership
  • In possession of or is working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience and a sound knowledge of NHS hospital protocols and practices, minimum 18 months post qualification
  • Competence in essential CT scanning
  • Direct experience of specialist imaging procedures
  • Enhanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to support emergency pathways and elective imaging
  • Advanced knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations, their implementation and implication
  • Responsibility in a clinical area e.g. equipment, QA, training, protocols, rota, students, H&S, quality, staff resources, paediatrics
Desirable criteria
  • Local knowledge of trust
  • Experience of workloads in busy trauma centre
  • Considerable CT experience
  • Experience in general or trauma paediatric imaging
  • Evidence of leadership at a senior level
