Please note this role is currently only being advertised to staff members who are currently working within the Kent and Medway ICS.

The Pathology, Haematology & Blood Transfusion departments are looking for a motivated, methodical individual with a keen interest in IT to join their team on a 12-month secondment supporting the Kent & Medway STP's new Laboratory Information System (LIMS) project.   Applicants must have laboratory experience and ideally would have used Telepath and other MTW clinical systems.

The successful applicant will be responsible for all technical aspects of the different areas within Pathology. This includes planning, monitoring and quality assurance activities in Pathology IT as well as support, documentation and other duties as advised by the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Transformational Leads. Maintaining a good working relationship with both internal and external end users, including ICBs, GPs, community services, other trusts, and third-party suppliers, will be a key element in this role.

The successful candidate will have experience in providing high-level troubleshooting of IT systems associated with the different areas of Pathology and be conversant with the technologies and methodologies specific to the various sections across all of Pathology.

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. MCSA/ IT related GNVQ)

  • Degree in Science or equivalent IT qualification

Experience/Knowledge

  • A good working knowledge of the computing needs of all disciplines within a Pathology directorate and I.T. issues involved
  • Experience of using complex clinical computer systems, in the pathology setting, with a strong understanding of the principles of computer system validation.
  • Understanding of information security and governance.

  • Capacity to develop relevant information to assist with decision making process.
  • Ability to present information logically and concisely and with impact, both verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent data presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with sound decision making.
