Heart Failure Post

There is a well-developed multidisciplinary heart failure service offered across both sites, with an in-reach service offering specialist review and support to inpatients across all wards and daily consultant-led ward rounds. There are weekly MDT meetings with core team members including Acute and Community HF Specialist Nurses, with plans to engage the Specialist Pharmacists and Palliative Care team colleagues.

If qualified, candidate will be supported to advance the existing brady pacing services to Implantable Device Therapy (ICD/CRT devices) and will be leading this service.

Main duties of the job

Service Provision and Development

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Manage his or her personal workload in such a way to ensure where possible service contract levels are achieved and to participate in the provision of cover on a shared basis with colleagues for periods of annual, sickness and study leave, except for prolonged absence where locum cover may be necessary.
  • Provide continuing clinical responsibility for patients under his/her care and assume responsibility for and facilitate contact from members of staff with delegated duties for personally accountable patient care.
  • Maintain an awareness and commitment to organisational priorities and ensure these are communicated effectively to colleagues and staff. Engage constructive debates about organisational issues through a willingness to interact positively with managers – showing mutual respect to ensure a similar level of respect in turn.
  • Effectively balance loyalty to the service and to the organisation through corporate behaviours and have an ability to anticipate change in current political climates showing an awareness of where the team sits in the bigger picture.
  • Understand the wider health economy and the implications for the Trust whilst working within organisational constraints with willingness to compromise and share resources.

Job Plan

Hours of duty are the equivalent of 10 Programmed Activities per week plus on-call allowance.

Clinical sessions to be based in Outpatients or in admitted areas as required

 

Education, Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential:

  • MRCP
  • Accreditation in cardiology and general internal medicine is desirable, but candidate with single cardiology accreditation are welcomed.
  • Cardiological training and experience equivalent to that required to gain entry to UK CCST`
  • To be eligible for consideration for a consultant appointment by an Appointments Committee, candidates must be fully registered on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register for both cardiology and general internal medicine. Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT at date of interview
  • The appointee will be required to maintain full GMC registration and revalidation and should follow the GMC Code of Good Medical Practice

  • CCT in cardiology or due to receive within 6 months

  • Clinical training and experience in the relevant speciality, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT)
