We are seeking to appoint a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) from a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional background, to join our Acute Care Team. Our multidisciplinary team comprises of a Nurse Consultant, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Acute Care practitioners, health care assistants and vascular access services (including phlebotomy).
The ACP role on the Acute Care Team is a dynamic and multi-faceted position that encompasses all pillars of advanced practice. The job involves the management of unwell patients across all ELHT sites, developing plans and offering advice to patients suffering from, or at risk of critical illness. The role also supports clinical and site risk response supportive of operational pressures and patient safety.
Interested applicants must be a qualified ACP and possess a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (or equivalent). The ability to work as an independent Non-Medical Prescriber is essential therefore applicants must also possess a NMP qualification.

Main duties of the job
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will provide highly specialised, evidence-based care across ELHT, to those patients with chronic and acute conditions using advanced clinical knowledge

Work closely with the Intensive Care Nursing and Medical Teams to facilitate early and timely admission to critical care and safe discharge from critical care

To provide the infrastructure that addresses the knowledge and skills deficits of ward teams in delivering acute care skills to patients.

Support the Implementation of national guidelines or evidence-based practice to improve patient care. Addresses clinical governance issues promptly.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide advice, support and direction to ensure holistic patient care for acutely ill and deteriorating patients across ELHT in conjunction with the multi – disciplinary team over the 24 hour period.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will function independently or within a clinical team and will demonstrate competence complementary to the MDT role in the delivery of health care.

Essential criteria
- First level registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional currently working at an Advanced Practitioner level
- Non Medical prescribing module
- MSc in Advanced Practice or equivalent
- Advanced Clinical Skills
- Recognised advanced specialist qualification in acute care
- NMC Approved mentor preparation course/ or equivalent.
- ALS provider
Desirable criteria
- Teaching Qualification
- Experience in clinical supervision
- Management qualification
- ALS Instructor
- Transfer Training (e.g. SCITT)
Professional Body Registration
Essential criteria
- Professional registration with NMC/HCPC Professional Body
Experience

- 5 years post-registration experience (or equivalent)
- 3 years (or equivalent) at senior level
- Detailed knowledge of current best practice in relevant clinical area
- Evidence of effective leadership
- Evidence of managing teams
- Post-registration experience in a relevant clinical setting.
