Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a part time housekeeper to work on Surgical Assessment Unit ward 18. The post will involve working  18.5 hours per week on a rolling rota to include 2 weekends per month.

Surgical Assessment unit is a bust department with a high turnover of patients, we admit emergency patients from Accident and Emergency and GP pathways. We have a great team who would welcome you with open arms and support you during the integration into our team. 

This is an important role within the ward team and every day will provide variety of the role although the team will remain the same. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post. Please note that if you are successful in your application you agree that the Occupational Health Department can access your occupational health records from your current or previous employer (in order to check the status of your inoculations and screening tests). Main duties of the job

Experience of work as a housekeeper within the NHS ideal but not essential as full training will be given. Full details of main duties is available in the job description but this is an over view of the role:

Assisting patients with their nutrition and hydration needs,

Ensure unit and patient areas are clean and tidy,

Be a pivotal part in ensuring that the cleaning duties required weekly and monthly are completed to a high standard and documented

Management of stock,

Communicating with staff, patients and relatives both verbally and on the telephone, including welcoming to the unit environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work as an integral part of the  team ensuring a high quality service to patients. They will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities in the ward area and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

The main elements of the role are ensuring the effective provisions of catering, cleaning and maintenance services on the ward. You will also be required to undertake other non-clinical duties to meet individual patient needs as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse and to liaise with support service departments.

To assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the appropriate and effective delivery of facilities services in order to properly maintain the patient environment.

The post holder must comply with all relevant policies, procedures and training on infection prevention and control.
