Main duties of the job
As Project Manager within the PMO, you will be responsible for supporting our teams to develop and deliver schemes within the Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) plan.
You will be responsible for maintaining high levels of governance across the CIP schemes and will work with key stakeholders to project documentation is completed to a consistently high standard.
You will need to possess excellent project management skills and have a good working knowledge of finance within the NHS. You will need to be able to analyse and interpret complex financial data and present it clearly so that it is understandable to a wide audience.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner level
- Relevant post graduate qualification

Essential criteria
- Experience in managing a varied and demanding portfolio of tasks
- Experience in managing staff
- Proven successful track record in leading and supporting the delivery of a complex project(s
- Proven successful track record in applying financial control and achieving financial savings targets;
- Proven successful track record in leading, challenging and performance-managing teams and individuals
Desirable criteria
- Experience in leading and sustaining transformational change within a complex organisation
- Experience of using a variety of improvement methodologies to deliver benefits
Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of providing and receiving information, which can be highly complex, sensitive, or contentious, requiring persuasion, negotiation, diplomatic and motivational skills
- Highly developed and effective communication skills. Communication may be oral, and written, in the form of letters and reports, to staff at all levels in the Trust, and external to the Trust.
Desirable criteria
- The ability to present complex, sensitive or contentious information both formally and informally to small groups and present to large audiences
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of NHS strategy/policy
- Detailed knowledge of, and demonstrable experience in, the application of best practice project management methodology.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical and corporate governance and risk management systems and processes
- Knowledge and understanding of emerging national NHS policy.
Desirable criteria
- Significant experience of the NHS operational environment, patient care and clinical safety and quality domains
