We’re thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity within the Maxillofacial Laboratory! We are seeking a passionate Dental Technician to join us at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our lab is equipped with a cutting-edge 3D suite, featuring a model scanner, two 3D printers, and advanced 3D design software for creating dental designs, surgical diagnostic models, and medical devices.

Main duties of the job

Our workspace offers an enhanced environment conducive to productivity and compliance with stringent Health and Safety regulations.

At the core of our operations is the delivery of specialised technical services, primarily catering to Restorative Dentistry while extending support to Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Special Care Dentistry.

Driven by a commitment to excellence, we continuously strive to develop and implement industry-leading practices in medical device provision, adhering meticulously to both local mandates and national standards.

Ultimately you will provide a high standard of dental technical support to the Restorative Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontic Services.  We would welcome experienced and qualified staff who would describe themselves as dynamic, hardworking, forward thinking and a team player.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We address complex cases involving jaw, head, and neck malignancies, as well as congenital facial malformations, utilising advanced techniques such as implants, fixed and removable dentures, orthodontic appliances, and splints to restore functionality and aesthetics.

We leverage cutting-edge 3D technologies for precise modelling and denture design, thereby elevating the quality of patient care, safety, and overall experience to unprecedented levels.

Person specification

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria
  • BSc Dental Technology / Foundation degree or equivalent qualification recognised by General Dental Council
  • Current Statutory Registration to General Dental Council as Professional Complimentary to Dentistry
  • GDC Registered- To comply with statutory training requirements for GDC Registration and to keep up to date records for viewing.
Desirable criteria
  • Professional Diploma or equivalent qualification in one or more other relevant specialty e.g. Prosthetics and Orthodontic

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post qualification experience in the production of complex removable prosthodontics.
  • Experienced in routine appliance design and construction.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in construction of fixed prosthodontics.
  • Experience of implant retained prosthesis and implant systems.
  • Experience of complex Orthodontic appliances
  • Experience in hospital unit treating a wide range of cases.
