Job overview
Ward 2a are looking for a friendly, proactive, hard working housekeeper to join the team with good organisation skills, someone who loves to clean and talk to people will be the ideal candidate.
You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and appropriate storage of all equipment and furnishings, keeping them in good repair. Your attention to detail and commitment to maintaining an orderly environment will contribute significantly to the smooth operation of our clinical facilities.
Collaborating with clinical staff, your role extends to providing essential support in upholding a clean environment, including meticulous record-keeping of strict cleaning schedules.
This role includes overseeing the cleanliness and organisation of common areas such as staff and parent kitchen and sitting rooms. Your responsibilities encompass keeping these spaces clean, tidy, and well-stocked, with a focus on monitoring daily fridge temperatures. By contributing to the maintenance of these shared spaces, you play a vital role in creating a positive and comfortable environment for everyone on the unit.
Beyond the clinical aspects, you will provide valuable support in non-clinical duties related to patient needs. This includes maintaining medical supplies, dry goods, and other essential items to pre-determined levels throughout the clinical area.

Main duties of the job
Here's what the role entails:
🍽️ Menu Management: Develop a comprehensive menu each morning, ensuring dietary requirements are met and available by 9 am.
⏰ Efficient Meal Coordination: Work closely with the team to coordinate meal times efficiently, ensuring patients receive their meals promptly and according to schedule.
🥤 Hydration Oversight: Maintain regular intervals for providing drinks to patients, promoting hydration and well-being throughout the day.
🧼 Hygiene Maintenance: Prioritise cleanliness by ensuring patients are thoroughly cleaned both before and after meals, promoting hygiene and comfort.
🧹 Rota Maintenance: Oversee the cleaning rota all shifts, ensuring the ward remains immaculate at all times.
🔍 Thorough Inspection: Conduct inspections and decluttering of bays and corridors, maintaining a pristine environment conducive to recovery.
🧼 Adherence to Protocol: Follow a rigorous kitchen cleaning checklist to uphold sanitation standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

🔧 Equipment Maintenance: Report any faults promptly and ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained in optimal condition for patient use.

Essential criteria
- • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- • GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above OR level 2 Numeracy skills and level 2 Literacy skills
Knowledge and Experience

- • Previous experience of working with the public
- • Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- • Previous experience of working with patients in a healthcare setting
