Paediatric Team Lead
Band 5, Fixed Term 9 months
The Children’s Services department aims to look after the secondary needs of sick children, offering a combined integrated acute medical and community care for both inpatient and outpatients. The outpatient clinics are held in the Willows, CDC and various satellite sites such as Parkway, Leander Road, Waddon and Purley memorial hospital. The Patient Pathway Team Leader will provide senior support and expert knowledge to the team of patient pathway coordinators within the Point of Delivery team (POD), as well as other administrative staff within the POD. The team leader will work with another team leader as a joint team to oversee all administrative and clerical process to enable a high quality, effective, patient focused service to be delivered. The post holder will ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, ensuring achievement of all performance targets. The team leader will be responsible for providing regular updates on performance and the escalation of issues which hinder the delivery of a smooth patient pathway to the Service Manager.

Main duties of the job
Staff Management
1. Line manage Patient Pathway Coordinators and other administrative staff as appropriate within the POD.
2. Ensure that annual leave, flexible working and sickness is managed and recorded accurately for staff directly managed and that adequate cross cover arrangements are in place
3. Record staff information on electronic system (e-roster)
4. In line with Trust’s policies be responsible for managing individual performance and for resolving poor performance.
5. Be responsible for continuing personal and professional development of staff and undertake yearly appraisals
6. Schedule and lead regular team meetings
7. Assist in the recruitment of staff with the appropriate skills to support the needs of the POD
8. Responsible for training staff on IT and business systems (paper and processes)
9. Act as super user for IT systems
10. Ensure training needs, including business systems, of staff are met to be able to provide a patient focused service, as well as mandatory training
