Job overview
We’re looking for a motivated and organised individual to lead the people, processes, and performance of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Urology’s elective inpatient services. This role is key to ensuring smooth coordination of our urology theatre lists and responding quickly to changes in demand.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the registrar rota and support colleagues to keep services running seamlessly.
- Make sure patients are scheduled according to clinical priority and national access standards, including Cancer Waiting Times (CWT), Referral to Treatment (RTT), and Diagnostic Waiting Times (DM01).
- Organise and prioritise your own workload while helping the team deliver continuity of care every day.

Main duties of the job
- To co-ordinate operating surgeon cover and maximise the utilisation of Urology theatre lists.
- To develop the process to ensure that patients are scheduled in line with clinical priority and national access targets including CWT, RTT and DM01.
- To ensure that the service is able to meet reporting requirements for specialized inpatient activity.
- To ensure quality and customer care standards are met consistently as well as responding to patient concerns and complaints.
- Management of the monthly registrar rota.

Essential criteria
- Degree level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Operational experience in a managerial role
- Evidence of building effective working relationships and influencing stakeholders
- Responsibility of maintaining national access targets for a service (e.g. RTT, DM01, cancer waiting times)
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing theatre lists and implementing 6-4-2
- Experience in managing a rota
- Staff management including objective setting, performance review & people development
- Experience of working within a surgical specialty
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks appropriately
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of work organization and attention to detail
- Knowledge of RTT, DM01, Cancer Waiting Time targets
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of administration procedures and computerised software
