Job overview

We are looking for a Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly team at LNWH. The post is for maternity leave cover, based at Northwick Park Hospital but may involve rotating to Central Middlesex Hospital or Ealing Hospital.

As a Cardiac Physiologist you should be skilled in all non invasive diagnostic tests with an emphasis on echocardiograms and on patient-centred care. You should be working towards your BSE accreditation and be proficient with BSE guidelines for acquisition and reporting.

The post holder should provide a safe and welcoming clinical environment for patients.

Main duties of the job

The main role is to perform and report adult trans-thoracic echocardiograms in line with BSE minimum data set and local reporting guidelines. Ensure quality assurance checks on equipment and action as appropriate. 

Supporting junior staff members, administrative and clinical colleagues where required.

Occasional ECG's, tape and BP fitting and analysis.

Submit reports and archive study images in accordance with contractual requirements and local SOPs.

Liaise with relevant hospital departments and GP practices for urgent clinical referrals. 

Contribute to improvements in the department.

Eduation / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc degree in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent) in a related field
  • Proven experience with managing inpatient and outpatient echocardiography studies
  • Familiarity with clinical study design and data handling
Desirable criteria
  • Master's level or higher degree in Cardiology
  • ILS certification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in technical aspects of role, managing medical equipment
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience in service improvements and change management
