Job overview

  • Works in Pharmacy Stores and supports Drug Distribution when required.
  • Use Pharmacy stock control system to receive, unpack, input deliveries into the robot and receive deliveries of nutritional feeds for diet store.
  • Produce picking lists, packs and supply drugs and medicines to wards and departments.
  • Ensure expiry date checks of the medicine’s stored in pharmacy stores, fridge and freezers are regularly checked.
  • Carry out rolling stock checks generated by the pharmacy system.
  • Unpack delivery from suppliers, receive medicines and them away in their allocated locations e.g. pharmacy robot, rolling shelves etc.
  • Support with training of staff rotating in stores.
  • Support the operations in the purchasing office
  • Assist with checking the diet store.
  • Participate in weekend and bank holiday shifts as per departmental

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ (QCF) level 2 in Pharmacy Services or an equivalent Pharmacy Assistant certificate
  • Good standard of education, GCSE or equivalent

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Worked in a pharmacy either hospital or retail
  • Dealing with the public/ healthcare professionals
Desirable criteria
  • Worked in a Hospital Pharmacy Stores & Distribution Department

Skills, abilities, and attributes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to train and supervise staff.
  • Ability to learn fast, be flexible, a good team player and show initiative.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisational skills.
