We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

You will be receiving a £20k Golden Hello payment, which will be paid over 2 years on top of your salary

West London NHS Trust are currently advertising for a Home Treatment Team Consultant Psychiatrist in our Acute Mental Health Services Line. The Crisis and Home Treatment Team aims to reduce the frequency and length of inpatient admission for people experiencing acute episodes of mental health difficulties of all age groups including people above 65 years of age. It provides care and treatment in the least restrictive environment resulting in minimum disruption to the Service User's life with the purpose of meeting the person's mental health needs in their home environment and providing a real alternative to hospital admission where possible.

The Team also facilitates early discharges from the inpatient wards and facilitates 48-hour post discharge telephone contact post-discharge from the acute wards, and 7-day follow up where appropriate.

The team base is at West Middlesex University hospital site, next to Syon Park and Old Isleworth with great connections into London. If appointed, you will be joining an experienced and welcoming team of consultants, who scored above benchmarks in our recent Staff Survey. We have a clear sense of purpose and strong sense of team.

The Team manager and other consultant in the team that you would work with are highly skilled and have recruited an excellent team of professionals to work with them.

Main duties of the job

We want a Consultant Psychiatrist who can;

-Deliver the highest quality of clinical care to the patients and carers we see today.

-Lead, facilitate, actively develop, and support your overall team. 

-Take steps every day to ensure high quality of care to our patients and carers, actively engaging with opportunities for learning, growth, and service developments. Providing expert advice to our matrons, managers and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care, areas we should improve or pursue for funding opportunities, and strategic directions we should take in the future. No changes are made without including our consultant team.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • GMC Specialist Register or within six months
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment

  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

Clinical knowledge

  • Excellent clinical skills in Acute General Adult Psychiatry
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
