Job overview
The full time post is for a new Specialist Doctor in ENT.
A doctor appointed to this grade shall have full registration and a License to Practice within the General Medical Council (GMC) at the time of appointment and completed a minimum 12 year’s medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which six years should be as a Specialty Doctor in ENT.
The appointee is expected to have a specialist interest in Rhinology to complement the consultant establishment.
The main base is Kingston Hospital, a busy and friendly district general hospital where the post holder will work as part of our well-established team. The department has also developed good links and works collaboratively with the tertiary trust in the SWL area.
This is a senior appointment for an individual possessing substantial experience in the ENT field, and it is anticipated that the successful candidate will develop into a leadership role, taking responsibility for middle tier medial staff in addition to taking an active part in the operational management of the department and the development of our expanding service.
Main duties of the job
Main Clinical Duties
1. Delivery of direct clinical care within an acute and community-based environment working autonomously within defined local frameworks of clinical practice
2. Provision of assessment and management of the full range of ENT conditions, acting as a subject matter expert for routine and more complex rhinology conditions/disease.
3. Collaborate with other speciality teams for comprehensive care (i.e. Radiology, Audiology)
4. Ensure delivery of high-quality patient care across the wider team, empowering and assisting others to deliver optimum services

Clinical Experience

- Clinically evaluates and manages a patient, formulating a prioritised differential diagnosis, initiating an appropriate management plan, and reviewing and adjusting this
- Manages the difficulties of dealing with complexity and uncertainty in the care of patients, employing expertise and clinical decision-making skills of a senior and independent/ autonomous practitioner
- Critically reflects on own competence, understands own limits and seeks help when required.
- Awareness of their leadership responsibilities as a clinician and demonstrates appropriate leadership behaviour; managing situations that are unfamiliar, complex or unpredictable and seeking to build collaboration with, and confidence in, others
