The advertised substantive post is for a Radiologist with a specialist interest in Breast Imaging, based at Whipps Cross University Hospital.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team to help deliver the service. An interest in teaching and training is welcomed to help establish a more extensive training and teaching portfolio.

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in breast imaging including diagnostic mammography, ultrasound examinations, ultrasound guided biopsies, stereotactic and ultrasound vacuum biopsies, FNAs and wire localisations under ultrasound and mammographic guidance.

Main duties of the job

The advertised substantive post is for a Radiologist with a specialist interest in Breast Imaging, based at Whipps Cross University Hospital.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team to help deliver the service. An interest in teaching and training is welcomed to help establish a more extensive training and teaching portfolio.

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in breast imaging including diagnostic mammography, ultrasound examinations, ultrasound guided biopsies, stereotactic and ultrasound vacuum biopsies, FNAs and wire localisations under ultrasound and mammographic guidance.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate professional excellence and the ability to deliver effective care. They will need to agree levels of activity and throughput with the Lead Breast Consultant, Imaging Clinical Director and Breast Imaging Manager. These activity levels will be aligned to the capacity and demand of the department.

Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC. Applicants will be required to adhere to the Trust’s policy on Maintaining Medical Excellence and to be committed to maintaining their standard of performance by keeping their knowledge and skills up to date.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • CCST (or within 6 months of date of interview) or on specialist register
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP/FRCS (or equivalent)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Subspecialty training in breast radiology
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within the NHS as a consultant breast radiologist

Clinical expertise in Speciality /Sub speciality:

Desirable criteria
  • Experience in reporting general body, trauma CT, general US and plain film

Training Expected

Essential criteria
  • Specialist training in breast radiology
Desirable criteria
  • Completed audit project with resulting change in practice.

Academic Achievements

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of research, presentations to learned societies.

Research/Publications

Desirable criteria
  • Publications in indexed journals
