FIXED TEM – 6 MONTHS

Whipps Cross Hospital
We are looking for a Specialist Doctor to further develop our service. This is a new post and will be offered on 6 months fixed term, with the opportunity to further extend.
Key duties will include independent operating lists, outpatient clinics, advice and guidance to General Practitioners via e-Referral Service and provide in-patient care. You will also be expected to participate in research and audit. Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates will be an integral part of the role.

You will also be expected to participate in research and audit. Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates will be an integral part of the role.
The post will be based at Whipps Cross Hospital; however, the post-holder may be required to work at other Barts Health sites.
Applicants must hold full registration and a licence to practice with the General Medical Council and have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in the relevant specialty

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • MBBS, or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- • Higher degree e.g. MS/MD/PhD
- • MRCS or equivalent
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Widespread broad based knowledge of all aspects of General & ColorectaI Surgery
- • Evidence of subspecialty knowledge of Colorectal.
- • Evidence of participation in projects
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of team working
Training Expected
Essential criteria
- • Minimum of 12 years medical experience of which 6 years are within General Surgery & Colorectal at SAS grades or equivalent
- • Evidence of subspecialist training and/or experience and independent competency in benign coloproctology
- • Experience in advanced coloproctology: EPSIT, FILAC, SILAC, VAAFT
- • Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates
- • Experience in pelvic floor surgery
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of formal educational training qualification
Management/Audit Experience
Essential criteria
- • Able to provide evidence of clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of impact and challenges this brings
- • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current and future NHS challenges and strategy
- • Ability to support team members in business planning via collaboration and discussion
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare
- • Experience of audit management
Academic Achievements
Essential criteria
- • Ability to demonstrate personal experience of clinical research and describe and discuss finding and impact
Desirable criteria
- • Publications in peer reviewed medical journals
Research
Essential criteria
- • Experience of research, presentations to learned societies on topics related to surgery
Publications

- • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical /surgical problems
