Job overview
Although this position is a 6 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 6 months.
We are seeking an experienced phlebotomist to join our friendly team for a 6-months fixed-term contract (20 hours per week).. We are a dynamic department and would like to hear from suitable qualified people. You will have had recent phlebotomy experience with minimum of 1year adult and 6 months paediatrics phlebotomy experience and are expected to complete our local competency assessments.
The successful candidate will have a flexible approach to duties.
An essential requirement of the post is an ability to deal with patients in a confidential, professional, and sensitive manner.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder is expected to collect blood samples from patients in all wards and clinics as required, including isolation, paediatric and outlying units as requested by an authorised officer, by means of venepuncture, skin puncture or other authorised methods, using the method most appropriate to the individual patient’s needs and requirements.
- To participate in the provision of a high-quality phlebotomy service to paediatric and adult patients in all locations as required inc. Mental Health Hospital, wards, OPD and ED.
- To manage and prioritise workload in various clinical areas.
- To be involved in the training of other staff where appropriate.

Essential criteria
- GCSEs in Maths and English language or minimum of Key Skills Level 1 in literacy and numeracy, or equivalent qualifications. • U.K. recognised Phlebotomy certificate of competence.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a phlebotomist in paediatric clinic, Outpatient Department, Wards, Antenatal Clinic and Mental Health Hospital.
- Experience of working in a clinical team.
- Experience of working with the public and demonstrating strong customer care skills.
