We invite applications for a Specialty Doctor post in HIV/GUM. An opportunity has arisen to join our supportive team in a busy London clinic, extending services across both community and specialist hospital provision for six months in the first instance.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will deliver GUM and HIV services at 10 Hammersmith Broadway (10HB), part of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 10HB provides care for a diverse population encompassing routine and specialist HIV/GUM and contraception delivery. The post-holder will gain an excellent foundation in the field, within a supportive, educational environment. There is no on-call commitment attached to this post; however the post-holder will be required to do evening clinics. Successful applicants will be assigned an educational supervisor.  Although the post is not educationally approved, the post-holder will have access to the same departmental educational sessions as their counterparts in approved training programmes. The possession of MRCP is not an essential requirement of these appointments.  Specialty Doctors are encouraged to involve themselves in audit and research projects.

Experience, Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • At least two years of GUM experience
  • Considerable years of full-time Foundation training (or Its equivalent).
  • Full GMC registration
  • Relevant medical degree
Desirable criteria
  • Dip FSRH
  • Dip GUM
  • MRCP
  • LOC SDI
  • LOC IUD

  • Interested in HIV/GUM
  • Know when to ask for help

Skills and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Resuscitation training
  • Appropriate clinical and technical skills and abilities. Willingness to learn and use Hospital Information Support System (HISS)
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with patients and all staff appropriately
  • Evidence of enthusiasm
