Clinical Teaching Fellow - Junior or Senior
Appointments will be made in line with the stated salary scale, and with regards to the candidate's previous experience on Locally employed doctor Grade MT02 -MT04.
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Clinical Teaching Fellows to support the delivery of high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. These full‑time, one‑year posts are open to doctors at any post‑Foundation level and include protected time to maintain clinical practice within a base specialty.
Fellows will deliver a range of teaching, including small and large group sessions, bedside and clinical skills teaching, tutorials, and simulation‑based education. Post holders will support UCL medical students, contribute to curriculum delivery, and assist with the organisation and delivery of CPSA/OSCE assessments. Each fellow will undertake an educational project with opportunities for academic output.
The role will include occasional cross‑site working across Royal Free London hospitals and UCL. Appointees will have access to UCL’s “Training to Teach” course and support to complete a PGCert in Medical Education, with financial contribution from the Trust (up to £1,500 in addition to trust study budget).
Main duties of the job
Clinical Teaching Fellows will support the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the Royal Free London sites, whilst undertaking half a day or once per fortnight clinical practice in their base specialty. The role includes delivering bedside teaching, clinical skills sessions, simulation training, tutorials, and supporting curriculum delivery for UCL medical students.
Fellows will help organise teaching programmes for Years 4–6, contribute to Preparation for Practice modules, and assist with planning and delivering mock and summative assessments, including CPSA (OSCE) exams. The post also involves supporting foundation doctor teaching and educational activities across sites.
Each fellow will lead an educational or quality improvement project aimed at enhancing the student and trainee experience. Fellows will contribute to evaluating teaching, responding to learner feedback, developing teaching resources, and participating in ongoing professional development.
