Job overview

West London NHS Trust is delivering an ambitious multi‑year Transformation Plan. We are seeking a candidate with senior programme and/or delivery experience to play a central role in leading the planning, development and implementation of complex programmes that deliver sustainable, outcome‑focused improvement across borough, neighbourhood and service levels. 

This position leads high‑impact work to improve access, equity and patient flow across high‑demand inpatient and community pathways, while strengthening quality, enhancing patient experience, and driving forward the Neighbourhood Health agenda across our boroughs.

You will be central to shaping integrated, clinically led and financially sustainable transformation initiatives aligned with national and system priorities, including the NHS 10‑Year Plan.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Head of Transformation, this job holder will work across community and mental health programme areas in leading end-to-end delivery of key transformation priorities. The job holder will lead the end-to-end delivery of key transformation priorities, ensuring robust and effective change management throughout the process. This will involve:

·       Responsibility for the day-to-day management of assigned deliverables including starting up, maintaining, supporting, facilitating, monitoring progress, closing and evaluating multiple workstreams.

·       Managing multiple workstreams, from initial planning, development and implementation to ongoing support, monitoring progress, and final evaluation.

·       Providing guidance and expertise to support clinical and operational leaders on delivery of transformation initiatives, including overseeing project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and communication.

·       Responsibility for all enabling work to drive the programme including co-production with service users, carers, staff and co-production partners; enabling digital solutions; enabling estates solutions; outcomes; and workforce.

 

·       Lead delivery through close working with senior management, clinical leads and support services in leading delivery of programme priorities.  They will also work closely with internal and external colleagues ensuring they are fully sighted and involved in all transformation work.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent experience of leading at senior level
  • PRINCE 2 practitioner, APM training or equivalent change management qualification.
  • Evidence of continued professional development specific to leading programme or change Management.
Desirable criteria
  • Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) training or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of NHS Operational and/ or clinical management o OR Experience of working in NHS England/ Improvement in national or regional mental health areas
  • Experience of working in a leadership role within the NHS in delivering transformation, change management or improvement projects
  • Experience of working with clinicians, practitioners, and service users and carers in delivering change
  • Experience and ability to matrix work across multiple teams and organisations
  • Demonstrable track record of leading or playing a significant role in the delivery of change management or improvement programmes
  • Experience in developing new and innovative models of care, from end-to-end, to address unmet needs.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in writing successful business cases.
  • Experience of working in the NHS or outreach work, or undertaking local engagement work (e.g. lived experience ambassadors, mentoring, peer support etc.), the experience of working in or with the voluntary sector, working in community groups

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge and experience of underpinning NHS policy and guidance, with ability to apply knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience of change management, business process mapping and quality improvement approaches
  • Advanced technical programme management skills with an ability to adapt the approach to a service environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of relevant professional body
  • Knowledge of financial analysis and contracts

  • Ability to analyses, interpret and present complex information and quantitative and qualitative data, including financial data, and to make decisions based on highly complicated and sometimes incomplete information

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
