Job overview

The primary function of this role is to provide cleaning services to support a safe environment for Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust patients and colleagues. This work is an essential element to healthcare safety and compliance with infection prevention and control standards.

 

The post holder will ensure the service is delivered to a high-quality extending care and consideration to patients, staff and visitors.

Main duties of the job

·         Observing correct safe working procedures in accordance with the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

 

  • Carrying out routine cleaning tasks at the scheduled time, in a specified area and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.

 

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the area of responsibility.

 

  • Emptying and disposing of domestic and clinical waste in accordance with the Trust’s infection prevention and control & waste disposal policies.

 

  • Replenishing consumables (i.e. paper towels, toilet rolls, soap, etc)

 

  • Storing and using cleaning equipment and materials safely and efficiently and in compliance with COSHH regulations.

 

  • Using only approved cleaning equipment and materials in accordance with training and instructions provided.

 

  • Undertaking all cleaning duties in a safe manner, using PPE and hazard signs as appropriate.

 

  • Liaising with clinical staff in order to deliver a patient focused service.

 

  • Being vigilant and reporting care and estate issues to your line manager.

 

  • Responding to any reactive cleaning requests on-site complying with infection prevention and control and/or management instruction.

 

  • Collecting and moving refuse including emptying, cleaning and relining waste bins with appropriate coloured liner.

 

  • Cleaning of sanitary areas including WC’s, wash hand basins, baths, showers, sinks and sluices, floors, all surfaces, furniture and fittings
