Therapy Team Lead – Intermediate Care
Band 7 - Permanent position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Therapy Team.
The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Therapy Service within the in-patient bed based intermediate care service. They will lead and operationally manage a multidisciplinary team (MDT) of therapists, technical instructors and Health Care Therapy Assistants. He/she will be responsible for the delivery of patient rehabilitation and clinical care whilst ensuring clinical governance procedures and patient safety measures are in place. They will also manage a clinical caseload.
Main duties of the job
We require a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who has excellent communication and leadership abilities, as well as a strong base of clinical skills. Good organisational, project management and problem solving skills are critical to this role. Candidates will be required to manage their own clinical caseload but also provide direction to the team. Experience of managing staff would also be advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To have overall operational responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Therapy service and associated MDT including rota management, staff performance and sickness management and operational delivery of care and the rehabilitation of patient.
- Enable a high quality rehabilitation service is offered to patients through the professional and Trust clinical governance frameworks.
- Investigate incidents and complaints as required.
- Ensure care and therapy standards are maintained through training and audit
- Ensure a range of therapies are on offer daily to patients including group activities and one to one interventions.
- To be responsible for ensuring a person-centred service is delivered that is responsive, effective and efficient achieving KPIs and Therapy outcome measures.
- Ensure professional and legal standards are maintained.
- To work with the Clinical Pathway Lead and other Band 7 Leads to ensure that the intermediate care service contributes to timely and appropriate patient assessment, treatment and discharge.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in relevant AHP profession
- State Registration with HCPC
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Relevant Masters Level Qualification
- Involvement with special Clinical Interest Group
- Relevant post graduate training in specialist area
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates expert clinical experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist..
- Working knowledge of broad range of clinical interventions
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to the clinical education of less experienced staff, assistants and learners.
- Able to cope work in a stressful fast paced environment
- Able to support challenging patients and carers.
