Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arise for a Chef Supervisor due join the Team at The Royal Oldham Hospital to be responsible for the direction and supervision of all Retail/Kitchen staff.

You will provide a high standard of catering for patients, staff, and visitors whilst ensuring Food safety and standards are kept at a high standard 

You will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, service and distribution for all aspects of food production to patients, staff and visitors and any associated duties, ensuring the correct and economical use of materials and equipment.

You will be able to work without supervision at the stated place of work, but may be asked to work at any of the Trust’s Kitchens as required.

Main duties of the job

  • Organisation and running of all aspects of the Kitchen.
  • To play a key role in the development of patient staff and hospitality menus.
  • Ensuring that all Allergen information is regularly check and updated as and whe needed.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of goods checked in, and relevant documentation is correct.
  • Ensure any irregularities in stock deliveries are reported to the Supplier.
  • Ensure the quality and appearance of all food served to patients, staff and hospitality is of the highest standard.
  • Update and created standard recipes as and when needed, and ensure they are adhered to.
  • Liaise with catering, ward staff and other departments to ensure efficient running of services and maintain good communications.
  • Check and monitor that all HACCP paperwork is completed, and submitted to the manager on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure all regulations are complied with throughout the department i.e. Food Hygiene, Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, Manual Handling and Fire Training.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 or relevant experience
  • Level 4 Advanced Food Safety
  • Level 3 Allergen
  • Level 4 Certificate in Management
  • Level 3 Food hygiene
Desirable criteria
  • Level 4 Food Hygiene

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point H.A.C.C.P. Procedures
  • Understanding of cleaning and monitoring systems
  • Proven experience as a Supervisor/Head Chef in similar large scale organisation
  • Experience of planning, organising and controlling of resources across an acute hospital patient feeding function
Desirable criteria
  • Financial Awareness and Business Acumen
