Job overview
As a Domestic Assistant you will be responsible for keeping wards, offices, and public areas clean to a high standard. You will work as part of the domestic service team, as well as part of the wider community within the hospital setting.

Domestic Assistant's are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleaning in line with infection prevention.
You will work from a daily/weekly schedule in both clinical and none-clinical areas, making sure that the hospital is clean, and that patients have a pleasant and safe stay.
The working hours are:
Monday to Friday: 16:00 - 20:00 = 20hrs
Main duties of the job
As a Domestic Assistant you`re likely to perform a range of duties that include:
- Cleaning patients or service user’s room/ward
- Cleaning toilets and bathroom areas
- Cleaning communal areas, such as lounges, dining areas and corridors
- Clean utility room
- Carry out deep-cleaning operations in certain areas.
- Use the most appropriate cleaning equipment for the task, this may include vacuum cleaner, mops, or electric floor cleaner.
- Using cleaning products and other chemicals safely and effectively
- Keep up to date with safety procedures for example, fire procedures and escape routes and undertake appropriate workplace training.
Professional Duties
You will be responsible for the following within this position:
- Carrying out specific cleaning and other related duties to set procedures and standards.
- Ensure infection control policies are adhered to
- Work as part of a team, using a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise the daily duties, whilst always maintaining a professional approach.
- Ensure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas is maintained to the required standard.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 1 functional skills in English, Math
- Can demonstrate basic level of computer literacy
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 1 in cleaning or willing to obtain
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate an understanding of the domestic assistant role within a healthcare setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a health care setting.
- Experience in cleaning protocols
- Knowledge of infection control
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Previous Domestic Experience
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate effectively
- A good understanding of Trust Values and Behaviours and ability to demonstrate these values in the working day
