Job overview
This vacancy is for a Band 5 post (subject to Agenda for Change job panel matching) but depending on experience and qualifications this could be a development opportunity as Band 4 post, progressing to a Band 5 once suitable experience and milestones have been met.
Working within a joint Contracting team across Stockport and Tameside Trusts the Assistant Contracts Manager (Income) role is key to the robust management of relationships with commissioners and internal stakeholders, providing an essential service across the trusts. The post holder will provide support to the Trusts’ operational teams and managers as well as working closely with commissioners.
Main duties of the job
This role involves developing new and existing relationships to ensure that robust contractual relationships are in place and effectively managed, ensuring compliance with Standing Financial instructions.
Full training and support will be provided as required.
Applicants should be highly computer literate with clear verbal and written communication skills and be capable of prioritising workload effectively and working independently. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop personally and professionally, as a role model within the department.

Assist in the management of income contracts, supporting the Senior Contracts Manager in populating contract agreements, dealing with queries from commissioners and liaising with internal stakeholders.
Assist in developing service level agreements (SLAs) with other NHS Providers, supporting divisions in ensuring that appropriate agreements are in place and reviewed regularly.
Work with divisions to develop a robust management framework for monitoring SLA performance.
Support the Senior Contracts Manager in arranging insourcing and outsourcing services in accordance with the Provider Selection Regime. This will include assisting with the publishing of relevant procurement notices and working with Trust stakeholders to develop relevant documentation including service specifications and performance indicators
Raise the profile of the Income, Costing and Contracting team across Tameside and Stockport and promote the benefits of effective and best contracting practice.
Attend staff and divisional meetings and deputise at meetings for the Senior Contracts Manager as and when required.
Develop a culture that encourages the use of initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communication, in particular to ensure that time and resources are managed through effective teamwork, leadership and motivation.
Support the wider Income, Contracting and Costing team as required, having involvement in service developments and change across the Trusts.
Assist in the delivery of the Trusts’ Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) savings targets.

Essential criteria
- Minimum 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
- Educated to Degree Level, or equivalent knowledge, training and experience
