We are looking for an motivated , hardworking house keeper to join our mixed antenatal and postnatal ward in the maternity unit.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person who is able to deliver a high standard of care and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team assisting staff on the ward to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for our patients, their families and visitors.
To work as part of the team you must be highly motivated and able to prioritise your workload. You must also be able to demonstrate an adaptable, enthusiastic approach to your work, and the ability to manage your workload with various competing demands for your time and attention within a busy clinical area.

Main duties of the job
To act as Housekeeper, ensuring the patient service and the clinical environment are managed and maintained to appropriate standards.
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness without direct supervision.
To support the department staff in the smooth running of their area and to come into contact with patients.
The post holder will be instrumental in ensuring patients' nutritional requirements are met.
The post holder is required to use their initiative and take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and the service they provide to patient
Communications
- To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of a registered midwife.
- To carry out some administrative related tasks for the benefit of the ward including stock ordering and equipment maintenance.
- To communicate effectively when giving/receiving verbal and written information.
Responsibility for Patient Care
- To maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- To carry out any tasks required to maintain the safety, cleanliness and tidiness of the ward area.
- To carry out duties as required, to meet aspects of ward catering (i.e – to help give out the patients meals
- To carry out routine ward maintenance activities including some safety checks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- As the house keeper for Maternity Ward 2, you will be expected to co-ordinate non clinical ward services, the work will include:-
- Talking to and reassuring patients
- Keeping the ward clean & tidy
- Serving and clearing away meals & preparing snacks and drinks
- Orientating new volunteers
- Datix issues relevant to the role
- Ordering supplies
- Equipment maintenance – any broken equipment – sending it to medical appliances to be fixed
- Putting away stock & laundry deliveries
- Bed Making
- Assisting with some ward safety checks

If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £26.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
