Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, qualified Nuclear Medicine Lead. The post holder will work as part of the Nuclear Medicine service alongside the Lead NM Radiologist and be a point of contact for the speciality. They will actively engage with all aspects of the service and continuously seek its improvement. They will assist with the day to day management within the department and hold a key position in the operational provision of the Nuclear Medicine service, ensuring adequate resources are available to the staff who deliver it. The post holder will drive high radiographic standards and collaborate with key stake holders to ensure the service is fit for purpose and meeting all regulatory requirements.

Main duties of the job

•       To lead the Nuclear Medicine service by providing support, leadership and direction to the Nuclear Medicine team and ensure that all Nuclear Medicine staff are adhering to local protocols/policies.
•       To act as Radiation Protection Supervisor in Nuclear Medicine and attend relevant interval meetings related to the role, inclusive of overarching responsibility for personal dosimetry.
•       To construct performance reports for various departmental/divisional meetings.
•       To provide Line Management duties.
•       To work closely with the IR(ME)R license holders and Radiologists in the delivery of the service.
•       To develop and maintain documentation (SOP/Guidelines/Protocols) and ensure these are adhered to by all the nuclear medicine staff, confirming any adaption of technique is clinically and technically justified.
•       To ensure procedures are carried out safely, effectively and in accordance with IRR17 and IR(ME)R.
•       To liaise with the RPA and MPE to review procedures, audits and risk assessments.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • DCR or BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
  • State Registered with HCPC or IPEM/RCT
  • DRI or PgD in Nuclear Medicine
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Management Qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of recent and extensive post registration experience in Nuclear Medicine, a knowledge of current trends and ionising Radiation Regulations

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Supervisory management of staff
  • Sound knowledge of IR(ME)R
  • Extensive post-registration experience in Nuclear Medicine
Desirable criteria
  • Supervisory management of staff

Skills and Abilities
