Job overview

Hsdu Endoscopy Technician - Band 2

Temporary 12 months contract - 37.5 hours per week

The Decontamination Technician is responsible for providing effective safe and efficient collection, decontamination (washing, disinfection and sterilization) and distribution of re-usable medical devices.

Technicians must comply with the essential requirements of MDR 2017 and UKCA, the decontamination units maintain a quality system (I.S.O 13485:2016), this is a legal requirement under the consumer protection act.

To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. Record all processes in the tracking and tracing database. To reprocess Endoscopes, record all processes of each Endoscope in the tracking and tracing database and to ensure all Endoscopes are placed in a dryer cabinet within 1 hour prior to use.

Please note that whilst the trust does offer sponsorship this role is unfortunately not eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Health and Care Worker visa route. This is due to the position not meeting the minimum salary threshold of £25,000 per annum and/or the required skill level set by UK Visas and Immigration.

Main duties of the job

1.     To work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management System. 

2.     To reprocess reusable medical devices under supervision; disassemble, clean, disinfect, check, assemble, sterilize, despatch and track in a controlled environment.

3.     To reprocess endoscopes using high level disinfection involving packing, storage and dispatch.

4.     To operate washer disinfectors, AER washers, Dryer cabinets and Sterilisers including loading machines, checking detergents, maintaining records as required.

5.     To report any faulty instruments or equipment to Supervisor.

6.     To maintain accurate records involved in production.
