Job overview
The role of the Nursing Associate is to work with the Registered Nurse and other members of the multi professional team, providing and monitoring care and contributing to the ongoing assessment, as agreed with supervising clinician(s) and in line with the service pathways. They will monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with the multi-professional team
Main duties of the job
The nursing associate will provide support and intervention to children, young people and families within a delegated caseload. There will be a primary focus on Manchester’s key public health priorities, including healthy lifestyles, weight management, Relationships and Sex Education and mental health. The post holder will work with colleagues in the Healthy Child Programme and wider School Nursing team to ensure a co-ordinated approach across the public health agenda. They will be supported by Health Improvement Practitioner Specialists within Healthy Schools to deliver high quality public health education sessions to young people, parents and staff within schools. In addition, the post holder will provide support and co-ordinate with screening requests to include audiology, orthoptics and NCMP.

- • Registered Nursing Associate recorded on the NMC Register with a Foundation Degree
Knowledge & Understanding

- • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
- • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
- • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
- • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and implementing care plans
