Job overview

Working within a specialist team you will be responsible for assisting in providing a professional and effective Traffic Officer service tailored to meet the needs of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust by:

Maintaining good order and preventing public disorder on all Trust sites. Protecting patients, staff, contractors and visitors against acts of violence, aggression and abuse.

Protecting Trust property against loss, theft and damage.

Protecting property belonging to patients, staff, visitors and contractors against loss, theft and damage.

Maintaining Traffic routes throughout the Trust site 

Patrolling Trust Car parks 

Issuing notices or Breach of Contract (BOC) fines for any unauthorised Parking.

Main duties of the job

To provide a professional and effective Security Service tailored to meet the needs of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS FT.

To maintain good order and prevent public disorder on all Trust sites.

The protection of patients, staff, contractors and visitors against acts of violence, aggression and abuse.

The protection of Trust property against loss, theft and damage.

The protection of property belonging to patients, staff, visitors and contractors against loss, theft and damage.

The post holder will provide emergency response to incidents on all Trust premises.

To protect staff, patients and visitors from acts of violence and aggression giving regard to their own safety.

To de-escalate incidents of disorder

To maintain accurate written records of security incidents and complete the appropriate electronic incident forms, police witness statements and duty log.

To complete pocket note books to a recognised evidential standard for future investigative requirements.

To liaise with the Police as required including the submission of statements, preservation and correlation of any evidence that may be required.

Answer all emergency telephone calls in courteous and professional manner.

Delegate and prioritise tasks to patrol officers

Monitor CCTV for all Trust sites.

Carry out regular patrols of the Trust car parks 24 hours a day

Report incidents of unauthorised parking to the control room and/or the Car Parking Manager and assist in the tracking of owners should they be required to move their vehicle.

To assist as required in regulating the movement of traffic and to organise and control the parking of vehicles on Trust property.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • SIA Frontline Manned Guarding Licence OR NVQ level 2 Security/equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • SIA Public Space Surveillance licence

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in security industry
  • Experience in restraint techniques
Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of the Mental Health Act 2007
  • Competent in the use of CCTV equipment

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998 (personal data and CCTV)
  • Competent use of two way radio procedure

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Word and Outlook applications
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Level of personal fitness that enables prolonged foot patrols and standing
  • Ability to prioritise incidents based on dynamic risk
  • Ability to produce evidential written reports both hand written and electronically
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Able to work shifts over 24/7 period
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to maintain an accurate pocket notebook
  • Good written communication skills
