Job overview
The post holder will be involved in the preparation and service of meals to patients, staff & visitors.
You will be required to undertake a wide range of cleaning and monitoring duties associated with maintaining food hygiene within the main kitchens, ward kitchens, dining room and coffee shops all whilst ensuring that at all time a high-quality service provision is offered, maintaining trust values
Main duties of the job

Work as directed by catering supervisors in accordance with local procedures
Work within strict timeframes
Participate as a team member
Be prepared to move to a different task as directed by the supervisor
Performance of duties in accordance with approved methods, frequencies and standards, adhering to strict food safety standards
Some preparation of cold foods will be required
Minor cooking skills to produce call order items, e.g. Breakfast items, bacon, sausage, burgers as directed
Assist chefs with basic food preparation and cooking
Use of equipment machinery and cleaning materials as directed
Significant cleaning duties are associated with this post including cleaning of pans, cutlery, crockery, machinery, cooking equipment and floors walls and work surfaces

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Take & record temperatures of food as directed, report temperature failures.
Have high standards of personal Hygiene and follow the Departmental uniform code of practice
Comply with food hygiene regulations with regard to food service equipment cleaning and departmental cleanliness
Comply with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed Attend appropriate training and ensure that the level 2 food hygiene certificate is renewed every 3 years
Notify supervisor or other relevant staff of faulty equipment, building/equipment repairs, maintenance requirements, and requests for personal protective equipment/light equipment.
Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 – the post holder is required to fulfill a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
