We need a maintenance assistant to join our team to help keep our hospital environment safe, operational by supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and visitors – day in day out, it’s a blend of planned maintenance coupled with emergency repairs and everything in between.
Main duties of the job
As an Estates Maintenance Worker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our hospitals remain safe, functional, and comfortable for patients, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include:
Planned Maintenance: Executing a range of planned maintenance tasks to keep our buildings and external environments safe and in good order.
Safety First: Prioritising safety by conducting regular inspections and addressing potential hazards to create a secure environment.
Exceptional Service: Delivering outstanding customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
Flexible Support: Adapting to changing priorities and working flexibly to support our clinical teams and patient care.
Main duties of the job
To undertake, without supervision a variety of tasks which would include:-
- External grounds inspections
- Repair and replacement external paviours and kerbs
- Casting of concrete slabs
- General site labouring
- Dismantling and installation of hospital equipment and street furniture.
- Road repairs
- General building repairs
- Patch plastering

Person specification
Knowledge/Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven history of working within an Engineering / Building environment.
- Good hand skills working with fine tools.
- Excellent Communication Skills: both written & verbal
- Experience and competence to carry out Builders general tasks
Desirable criteria
- Experience and sound knowledge of plastering
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to City and Guilds Level
- NVQ Training in an Engineering / Building Discipline
Other
Essential criteria
- Proactive and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player.
- Demonstrates commitment to the job.
- Able to manage conflicting demands and plan work as appropriate.
