Job overview
The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit 3 exceptional Consultant Neurologists to join the UK's only dedicated neuroscience trust, rated "Outstanding" by the CQC and recognised nationally for innovation in neurology, neuro-trauma and rehabilitation. These posts are ideal for a new or established Consultant who wants to combine a broad general neurology practice with a developed or developing sub-specialty interest in movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis / neuroimmunology within a highly supportive, research‑active environment. Main duties of the job
Neurology serves a diverse population across Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Greater Manchester and Lancashire, with referrals also received from across the UK and internationally.
Providing general neurology outpatient clinics at the Walton Centre and at one or more satellite hospitals or community clinics.
Developing and leading sub-specialty clinics aligned to the appointee's expertise and Trust priorities, particularly in movement disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis/ neuroimmunology or another agreed area.
Contributing to the inpatient neurology service, including ward rounds, ward consultations and acute referrals, and participating in the consultant on‑call rota (approximately 1 in 20 weeks) supported by F2/CMT doctors and neurology SpRs.
Participating in medical audit, clinical governance, service development and quality improvement, and maintaining full engagement with annual appraisal and revalidation requirements.
Taking an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including bedside, outpatient and seminar‑based teaching, and supporting the training and supervision of junior medical staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCP or equivalent
- Current GMC registration
- Specialty certificate exams in Neurology or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- MD or PhD research qualification, or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- On specialist register or due to be registered within 6 months of date of application (neurology)
- Appropriate previous neurological experience
- Good communication skills
- Full current driving licence/ability to travel when on call
Desirable criteria
- Specialist neurological clinical interest and expertise
- Appropriate number and quality of research publications
