Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen on Critical Care for a dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated Housekeeper.

Critical Care is a 12 bedded ITU and a 6 bedded HDU

This position is to work weekends only 

The Housekeeper is an integral member of the team who will work along side the Management and Nursing Team in maintaining a high standard of organisation and cleanliness of all equipment across the department. 

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness of all equipment, both in use on the ward and in store.
  • To ensure all equipment and the ward environment is in good working order at all times and report appropriately if not.
  • Maintain Health and Safety in the workplace and complete risk assessments and electrical checks as required.
  • Support ward staff with the serving of food and drinks for the patients.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and perform clerical tasks such as answering the telephone and use of the IT System - Cerner.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 1 in a relevant subject or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in an NHS acute hospital
  • Evidence of IPC knowledge

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • General awareness of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations and processes.
  • Good time management and organisational skills
Desirable criteria
  • General awareness of Food Hygiene regulations and processes.

Personal Attributes

  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic
