As a Clinical Support Worker within CT and MRI, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their imaging journey, assisting radiographers and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient care.

The service is based at Arrowe Park Hospital. The role involves a range of shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, and the possibility of nights. We offer the opportunity to work full-time hours over three extended days, an arrangement that has been positively received by current staff and supports an improved work-life balance. Flexibility and the ability to work a variety of shifts are essential.

A comprehensive induction programme and ongoing support will be provided to ensure that new starters are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to undertake their role. We are committed to supporting staff development and fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Support Worker within the CT and MRI departments, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality imaging service, ensuring that patients receive safe, compassionate, and effective care throughout their diagnostic journey. You will work closely with radiographers, radiologists, and the wider multidisciplinary team, maintaining high standards of patient care and supporting the efficient operation of the service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with all local CT and MRI Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Communicating examination processes to patients and assisting them in preparing for their imaging procedures.
  • Providing care, reassurance and support to patients throughout their time in the department, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained.
  • Undertaking cannulation duties where appropriately trained and competent to do so.
  • Performing and recording basic patient observations as required.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, tidiness, and infection prevention and control.
  • Working flexibly across all areas of the CT and MRI service, to meet service needs.
  • Contributing to a positive, professional, and patient-centred environment at all times.
