Job overview

Carry out planned preventative maintenance, installation, modification and repairs to Hospital plant equipment and property including external doors, fire doors, access doors, wooden, plastic and aluminium windows, flooring, suspended ceilings, walls, fire proofing, electrical and mechanical closers, various types of locks and locking mechanisms, interior and external signage, fencing and various fixing and fixtures, glass and glazing. Maintain decorations both internal and external of all Health Board properties and cleanliness of fabric, plant and equipment.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in providing day to day maintenance services and support for the Health Board.  They will be part of a multi disciplinary team able to work autonomously, but will be guided by occupational policies and procedures. Will contribute to partnership working by supporting the Health Board in delivering goals and objectives by supporting continuous improvement in own performance and the performance of the directorate. Attending training, development and other activities aimed at improving own skills for the benefit of the organisation and patient care.

This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’,  just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.  Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.   • Previous experience of working within the NHS or Health Sector.
  • Experience of working in multi disciplinary environments.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Installation and maintenance carpentry related fixtures and fittings.
Desirable criteria

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Level 3 C&G/BTEC in carpentry or equivalent. recognised carpentry apprenticeship.
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in installing and maintaining fire doors.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritise and identify urgent actions.
  • Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above
