Applications are invited for an Ophthalmology Consultant  at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful applicant will join the Ophthalmology Department which comprises of 7 substantive consultants and a multi-disciplinary team including 7 Specialty Doctors and 2 Specialty trainees,

We are looking for a dynamic colleague to join our department and complement the existing clinical expertise.   You will be part of a friendly, forward thinking team dedicated to providing high quality care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the Ophthalmology service with the present consultants

The main duties of the post will include:

Supporting the provision of General Ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest complementary to the other consultants 

Delivery of outpatient clinics and day case surgery

Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working

Core Supporting Professional Activities will be offered to the successful candidate for which appropriate objectives will be agreed in accordance with the Trust Framework and national Terms and Conditions of Service

  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of CCT at the time of interview
  • Completed Fellowship Training
  • Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or equivalent
  • Extensive practical ophthalmic experience including emergency Ophthalmic patients.
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate thesis
