Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and qualified Audiologist to join our friendly team to help deliver a comprehensive range of diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology procedures to adults and non-complex children.

We are looking for someone who ideally has NHS experience and can work independently for all routine adult appointments including:

* Direct referral * ENT clinical support * Fittings * Review * Repairs

In addition, experience with children's diagnostic testing aged 4 and above would be favourable.

Although based at Kettering General Hospital we also have clinics at Irthingborough (Nene Park Hospital) and Corby that you will be asked to support, and therefore a UK driving license and access to a car are essential.

Main duties of the job

Undertakes routine diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures for non-complex adults, including Direct Referrals, Reassessments, Follow Up's, and Repairs. Clinical support will be provided for complex cases.  

Provides expert clinical service for ENT support clinics.

Undertake routine testing for children aged 5-18. 

Assist with non-clinical audit, service evaluations and maintenance of department protocols.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hon) Audiology
  • BAAT part 1+2
  • Registered to practice as an Audiologist/ Clinical Scientist with either Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Membership of BAA, BSA

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • NHS Experience
  • Worked as a qualified audiologist for at least 1 year post qualification
  • Knowledge of working with a wide range of hearing aid software
  • Routine and Complex Hearing aid work and verification
  • Worked with younger children performing routine hearing tests
Desirable criteria
  • Familiarisation with Auditbase PMS

Essential criteria
  • Ability to effectively and accurately communicate sensitive information to patients and relatives
  • Ability to overcome barriers to communication in patients of all ages, especially with the profoundly deaf and patients reliant on sign or language interpreters
  • Able to adapt communication to meet the needs of the situation
  • Ability to effectively communicate highly technical and/or condition related information to patients and/or carers
  • Ability to work with a level of autonomy to assess, diagnose, differentially diagnose and manage patients and their families.
