Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust rated “Outstanding” and is a great place to work. Support for further training and CPD is given (financial/time), flexible working and we are keen to support the wellbeing and professional development of our colleagues.

This post is for an 8B psychologist to lead a small team of psychologists, CAP and AP at the Welland Centre, inpatient unit based at St Mary's Hospital, Kettering.  Psychology is valued at the Welland Centre and has an established and important presence there. This role would include clinical work as well as supervision and delegated line management of the psychology staff based at the Welland Centre.

Main duties of the job

The Inpatient Psychology service provides staff support, debriefing and team formulation sessions as well as individual work with service users. The post holder will also be expected to be active in supporting service development to help ensure efficient and therapeutic practice across the wards, good communication, service user involvement, and recovery-orientated and positive risk-taking approaches. An interest in working within complex healthcare systems would be an advantage, as would demonstrable experience of offering training, team formulation, supervision and consultation.

The Trust has an active network of Psychologists and Psychological Therapists, and you would be actively encouraged to participate in network meetings and other CPD activities. You would work alongside the Principal Clinical Psychologist at Berrywood Hospital and be supported and receive specialist supervision from the lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Adult Mental Health employed within the Trust. We have good links with both the Leicester and Oxford Doctoral training courses, and regularly host trainees on placement.

Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
