Job overview

An opportunity has arisen within our busy Facilities Team at Rampton Hospital working as a Facilities Assistant - Driver in our Transport and Portering Departments.

Flexibility is essential, as the service need dictates a 24/7 coverage to accommodate patient movement.  Working 5 days in a 7 day period, between the core hours of 06.00 – 22.00hrs, with weekend working required.   There is a requirement to participate in an “on call” service on a rotation basis to cover emergency patient movement out of hours, therefore the successful applicant, when on call, must have a maximum response time of 30 minutes from home to Rampton.

All applicants must must have held a full UK Manual British Driving Licence for a minimum of 12 months, with C1 & D1 categories listed, be over 21 years of age and  must have less than 6 points on your licence.

All applicants will be expected to successfully undertake a Group 2 Medical which will be arranged by the Trust and a DVLA Drivers Licence Check.

Main duties of the job

To primarily support the Transport Department in providing a  service to transport patients to Hospitals, Prisons, Courts and various other destinations in the country.

There is also a requirement to support the Portering Department working in our main stores, delivering and collecting items from around the hospital and  also to work in our waste management centre.

Driving duties would take priority.
