Job overview
The post holder will assist the Control Centre Manager to lead a team of staff to provide a high-quality security service within the hospital Entry building including Control room, Reception, Switchboard, Contractor Escort Functions and patient property management.
They will develop and maintain effective and efficient services across all areas of responsibility, which contributes to the overall safety and security of the Hospital.
Manage highly complex security systems, including all control room functions and critical access and egress systems that keeps the Hospital safe and secure for Patients, Staff and Visitors.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to have broad operational management experience, managing large teams and varied team activities. The post holder will have excellent organisation skills and have worked in an environment where they have demonstrated project management skills in order to implement change within a department to contribute to the overall efficiency of the service.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, will be essential with the ability to comprehend and articulate to internal and external stakeholders complex security systems. This specialist and focussed knowledge base, to aid service development, maintenance and repair activities, is vital to the role of Deputy Control Room and Reception Manager.
The post holder will lead and motivate a team to provide a wide range of support services within Rampton Hospital including:
- Access and egress controls, including management of confidential information;
- Staff and Visitor search functions;
- Reception and switchboard services;
- Hospital Control Room with CCTV; Digital Radio systems; staff attack alarm system, a Perimeter Intrusion Detection (PID) system, & other specialist technology synonymous with a high security environment;
- Responsible for the safe and secure management of contractors to the hospital, including management of tools and the safe use of vehicles on site;
- Responsible for the day to day management of the security keys used in the hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Manage and motivate 4 various teams of staff comprising of approximately 80 directly employed and 60 bank staff, to ensure the following Human Resources frameworks are implemented:
Recruitment, Induction, Staff Training and Personal Development;
Sickness Absence and Performance Management;
Staff Rosters
Other General Management Duties, as deemed suitable and appropriate, to the role of Manager of a multi- functioning, high performance team
Provision of effective Control Room systems, including Staff attack alarms; CCTV, Digital Radio Systems and Perimeter detection systems
Responsible for the access and egress control s used within the Entry Building and that seamless integration of systems is achieved.
Responsible for the provision of an escort service for contractors working within the secure perimeter, including a safe and secure process for the management of any tools on site.
Continually review the service and implement delivery improvements that reflect changes made to policies, procedures or national guidelines relevant to a High Secure Hospital.
Input into the wider Security team, any performance, compliance or project work that contributes to the overall objectives of the service.
Promote a balanced approach, and work ethic that the whole team adopts, that incorporates all the security features and access restrictions relevant to a High Secure Hospital environment with the delivery of a high quality customer focused service.
Manage, on a day-to-day basis, the Safety and Security of all Hospital keys including maintaining live ledgers and accountability for keys in circulation.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
