Job overview
We are seeking a dedicated Specialist Practitioner to join our vibrant Children’s Neurodevelopment and Learning Disability Service. This is a unique opportunity to work within a supportive, dynamic environment where you can have a direct impact on the lives of children and their families.
About the Role
As a Specialist Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering holistic assessments that take into account not only the medical needs of the children, but also their emotional, social, and educational requirements. Your approach will be child-centred and family-focused, ensuring that each assessment provides a comprehensive understanding of the child’s strengths and challenges. You will use a range of assessment tools and techniques, engaging with children and families to develop tailored care plans that promote wellbeing, independence, and inclusion.
Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Working
Collaboration is at the heart of our service. You will be an integral member of our multi-disciplinary team, working alongside professionals from healthcare, education, social care, and allied services. Together, you will share expertise, information, and perspectives to develop holistic interventions and support strategies.

Qualification & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Practitioner qualification relevant to speciality (e.g. SALT, OT, Nurse)
- Significant experience of working as a specialist with children with Neurodevelopmental differences
- Portfolio of evidence demonstrating own personal development
- Knowledge of neurodivergent affirming practice
- Knowledge of Neurodevelopmental disorders underpinned by theory and practice
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate /registration learning in Neurodevelopment Disorders
- ASD assessment tool training e.g., ADOS
- Non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards, if applicable
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in mental health or specialist services including ADHD and ASD
- Ability to assess and implement a range of evidenced based therapeutic interventions
- Proficient in multi-agency partnership working
- Demonstrate autonomous working and management of own caseload
- Experience of providing clinical supervision
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Working knowledge of statutory and voluntary sectors with regard to mental health and well being
- Experience of addressing equality and diversity issue within context of service
- Participation in the development of policies and procedures
- Delivery of clinical training in relation to specialism
