The post is fixed term / secondment for 2 years due to funding.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Information Services Analyst to provide valuable insights and data driven recommendations, supporting colleagues to design and implement high-quality digital solutions and improve the quality of research management.
This role will suit a self-motivated individual with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, who has a passion for digital services and systems and enjoys a varied workload.
The post holder will require excellent communication skills, have a positive and flexible approach to the needs of the Service, be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part of a very busy team.
The post may close early if sufficient applications are received.
Main duties of the job
The key duties as follows:
Day to day operational support for research systems, advising system users on research study data collection and collaborating with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and data requirements for service improvement projects.
Working with colleagues to analyse and recommend improvements to data capture and quality, utilising communication skills, digital skills, and judgment to improve the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of research study data and service management information.
Quality assurance of system changes, working with colleagues and suppliers to plan and test new releases and support the use of research systems.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in a science or information related subject or equivalent relevant knowledge and experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of a range of service management and information systems, acquired through professional experience gained through working in a relevant setting
- Demonstrate an understanding of the policy and information management agenda in health and social care research in Wales and across the UK, especially in regard to service management
- Excellent working knowledge of modern web-based IT systems and familiarity with principles for the design of these systems
- Experience in specifying and/or documenting data items in systems
- Knowledge of legislative requirements relating to data collection, management and storage (e.g. the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act and the Caldicott Guidelines)
- Knowledge of the issues around data management and particularly data protection

- Experience in an information related role
- Intermediate knowledge of relational databases
- Experience of manipulating, querying, analysing and presenting data using Excel
- Experience of supporting projects
- Experience of using Microsoft Office 365 and Teams and remote working
