Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Join us as a Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP). You should be an experienced and qualified individual, with specialism in Neonatal Nursing, who is passionate about patient care. 

The MSc Neonatal Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner) Level 7 course is 1 year full time course followed by a part time dissertation and undertaken at University of Southampton.  The applicant will be supernumerary whilst training and have a blend of home study, clinical working and attending study days in Southampton University. 

Trainee ANNPs will start training at Band 6 or 7 depending on previous experience, if a trainee starts at Band 6 they will move to a Band 7 when they have undertaken 1 year of the training and has passed required modules.  Movement to Band 8a will be on successful completion of the MSc Advanced Practice.

You will join an established team of ANNP's working within a standalone ANNP rota that supports the medical workforce. Upon completion of the ANNP course, the successful candidate will join a supportive team of doctors and ANNPs who deliver 24/7 care within our Level 2 Local Neonatal Care Unit. As a trained ANNP, you will also have a commitment to management, education and clinical audit. 

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Working as part of the neonatal team on the neonatal unit and postnatal wards
  • Performing practical procedures on infants from the postnatal ward, birthing centre and infants admitted to the local neonatal unit, subject to appropriate training and experience
  • Attending deliveries, subject to training and relevant resuscitation accreditation
  • Maintaining timely and appropriate documentation
  • Supporting and contributing to timely discharge planning – to include completing discharge paperwork (Badger discharge summaries and referrals to relevant specialist teams)
  • Performing NIPE examinations
  • Having, developing and maintaining specialist medical knowledge appropriate to the role through relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Contributing to achieving and maintaining outstanding performance in the team / organisation
  • Leveraging a nursing background, the post holder will continue to develop the core elements of advanced practice, covering the four pillars mapped by British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) ANNP Framework and Heath Education England (HEE) Advance practice framework.
