Are you passionate about quality, detail-oriented, and ready to play a vital role in ensuring the safety of life-saving medicines? We are looking for a dedicated Aseptics and Radiopharmacy QA Officer to join our Pharmacy Aseptics and Radiopharmacy Services team at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality aseptic and radiopharmaceutical products, supporting patient care across a wide range of clinical services.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of our Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Perform QA checks on batch documentation and environmental monitoring data
  • Assist with deviation investigations, audits, and regulatory inspections (e.g. MHRA)
  • Contribute to training and compliance monitoring for aseptic and radiopharmacy staff
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective service delivery

  • Maintain training records, SOP registers, and QA documentation
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to support safe and compliant service delivery

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 

The post holder will support the Quality Assurance (QA) activities within the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit and Radiopharmacy at Royal United Hospitals Bath. The role ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), national regulatory standards, and Trust policies. Working closely with the QA Lead and operational managers, the post holder contributes to safe, effective and compliant preparation and delivery of aseptic and radiopharmaceutical products to patients.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

 

·         Assist with the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the Pharmacy Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with MHRA guidelines and NHS QA standards.

·         Perform QA checks on completed batch documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GMP and local procedures.

·         Support deviation, incident and non-conformance reporting; assist with investigations and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

·         Contribute to risk assessments and support compliance with Trust governance frameworks.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent healthcare science qualification plus accredited unperpinning knowledge OR Science Manufacturing Technician qualification (SMT)
Desirable criteria
  • Registered with either GPhC or Science Council (or eligible)
  • HNC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science or quality-related subject

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy QA, aseptic services, or Radiopharmacy support role
  • Understanding of GMP, quality management principles, aseptic techniques, and risk management
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in QA investigations, audits or SOP management
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring or cleanroom standards
  • Familiarity with radiopharmaceutical preparation regulations
