Hotel Services Supervisor – Part-time 30 hours per week.
The Longfox Unit is situated in the grounds of Weston General Hospital in Uphill. Elmham Way, and the Coast Resource Centre are in the Worle area of Weston-super-Mare.
Hours of work are 07.30 to 13.30 following a 2-week rota pattern which includes working every other weekend.
We are looking to recruit a Housekeeping Supervisor with experience who is able to motivate individuals to undertake the cleaning within the associated in-patient wards, departments, and community units, to provide our in-patient service users with food and beverages at mealtimes, and to ensure that a high standard of food hygiene and cleanliness is maintained at all times.

You will join a team of staff and will be working with one other Supervisor in supporting, and leading the day-to-day housekeeping, catering, portering, and linen services to the associated areas of responsibility.
The post holder will be expected to provide supervisory cover across the whole area of responsibility.
Main duties of the job

1. To Supervise Wards and Departments and to deploy Hotel Services Assistants and General Hotel Services Assistants on a daily basis to ensure that the areas of responsibility are maintained in a safe and hygienic condition ensuring a pleasant environment.
2. To organize the rosters to ensure that appropriate cover is provided to all areas of responsibility.
3. To ensure the correct handling, regeneration and service of Frozen Meals by Hotel Services Assistants and General Hotel Services Assistants to ensure compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation.
4. To assist the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager in the provision of other services within the Hotel Services Department and to assist with the recruitment, training and development of staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Result Areas:
1. To assume responsibility for the daily allocation of Hotel Services Assistants and General Hotel Services Assistants to provide a cleaning service in Departmental and Community areas, the provision of a cleaning and catering service on Wards and Central areas. The Ward and Central service includes the receipt, storage, handling and regeneration of frozen meals and the presentation and service of meals/beverages to Service Users.
2. To monitor the quantity and quality of linen delivered to Wards, adjusting linen quotas as necessary and identifying and reporting quality issues, liaising with the laundry as necessary.
3. To participate in activities to support the Hotel Services Team and Nursing Teams as agreed or as requested by the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager e.g. organising the ordering of meals, ordering, distribution, of non-clinical supplies, monitoring the use of non-clinical supplies and organising the collection/delivery of associated equipment.
4. To ensure that standards of hygiene, compliance with legislation and Trust Policy are maintained in all areas.
5. Planning and organising cover to ensure that the maximum level of cover is provided from the staff available.
6. To maintain official records, including time, sickness and holiday records for Hotel Services Assistants, General Hotel Services Assistants, and other designated staff within the Hotel Services Department.
7. To assist the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager in the recruitment of Hotel Services staff as required. To ensure compliance with Trust Policy.
8. To participate in providing initial and ongoing training for Hotel Services staff as required. To assist the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager to review all Hotel Services Staff in relation to competencies, training needs and career development. To maintain records of such training.
9. To regularly check departmental machinery and equipment and report defects, ensuring that it is maintained in a clean and safe condition. Also to report the need for any structural and fabric repairs.
10. To ensure that at all times good hygiene practices are followed in line with Assured Safe Catering and Trust Policy.
11. To participate in and undertake regular Audits relating to the Cleaning Specifications/Schedules.
12. To act as site contact for pest control issues, liaising with the contractor and maintaining records, ensuring that the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager is/are aware of related issues.
13. To undertake housekeeping duties as necessary.
14. To maintain client and staff confidentiality at all times.
15. To maintain client and staff privacy and dignity at all times.
16. To liaise with the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager and/or other Hotel Services Supervisors, Ward Managers and other Ward Staff, Departmental staff, or other agencies as required or requested by the Facilities Manager/Operational Manager.
17. To demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
18. To demonstrate an awareness of the need for sensitivity, tolerance and impartiality.

- Able to work on own initiative, unsupervised, and ability to work as part of a diverse team.
- Relevant and recent experience of supervising a team of cleaning or catering (or both) staff in a hospital or healthcare environment
- Previous experience of undertaking or participating in cleaning or catering audits
- Previous experience of training cleaning or catering staff (or both) in a hospital or healthcare environment
- IT Skills, including the use of Microsoft applications i.e. Word/Excel/Outlook
- Experience and evidence of recent use of bespoke IT program(s)
- • The ability to travel rapidly and responsively and at short notice, between the Longfox Unit, Elmham Way and the Coast Resource Centre
- Empathy for individuals who have experienced mental health problems and ability to cope with behaviour which may be challenging at times
Desirable criteria
- Recent attainment of the Intermediate/Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Previous supervisory experience in any cleaning/catering environment
- Experience of auditing in any environment
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Any relevant training qualification
- Previous and relevant experience working in a hospital or care environment
- Flexible attitude to hours of working
- Full and clean driving license
