Job overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking staff to join our team at the Central Main Kitchen Facility where all the meals for the hospital are produced.
The successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of the work undertaken at the Central Main Kitchen Facility and will be required to work flexibly to cover duties.
You will also be required to provide cover in other areas of the Catering Department including dining rooms and patient kitchens.
The Catering Department utilises the expertise of the caterers and the clinical experience of the dietitians to ensure that patients receive high quality, appropriate and nutritionally adequate food.
The following positions are available:
- 1 x 30 hour post
- 2 x 35 hour posts
- 2 x 37.5 hour posts

Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for general cleaning of the CPU and disposal of food waste. Food handling related duties in the provision of meals to patients, staff and other customers.
- The Department is responsible for the food service to staff and visitors through its outlets in dining rooms, vending machines and delicatessen bars.
- The Catering Department provides training in food hygiene to other health professionals within the Trust.
- Basic food preparation including making up salads, sandwiches etc
- Assembly of patient and staff meals prior to distribution.
- Packing, sealing and labelling of meals.
- General and deep cleaning of the premises and equipment, including the use of heavy duty cleaning appliances.

- Evidence of attending a nationally recognised food hygiene course eg CIEH or working towards one.
- Moving & Manual Handling
- Health & Safety.

- NVQ Level 1 -Multi-skilled Food Service.
- Cash handling.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE English & Maths Grade A/9 – C/4 or equivalent qualifications or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
- CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety Certificate or equivalent.
- NVQ or apprenticeship in a Catering subject.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial relative catering and cleaning experience.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of allergens.
- Experience of working in a team.

- Good effective communication skills.
